September’s COVID death toll rises as six more deaths confirmed

The Ministry of Health on Friday reported six more COVID-19 fatalities along with 228 new cases of the virus.

In a press release, the ministry said the new fatalities, three men and three women ranging in age from 45 to 85, increased the country’s total number of deaths from the virus to 792. Four of them were unvaccinated persons, one fully vaccinated while the other’s vaccination status was unknown. All were recorded in September and increased September’s death toll to 167, which is the most deaths recorded in a single month.

In addition, the ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard showed 228 new infections being recorded after 1,722 more tests were done. It also showed that 30 persons were admitted at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
