(Trinidad Guardian) The ten-year-old son of Princes Town mechanic Kishoan Ramlogan has been crying since he was told that his father was gunned down on Tuesday.
“Who go do a thing like that? They could ah give him one shot in he hand or something and leave him. He would ah come and take care of he son,” cried the child’s grandmother Carlawatie Ramlogan at her Princes Town home yesterday.
She said she had been trying to comfort her grandson but he missed his father, as he went everywhere with him.
The child’s parents are separated and he lived with his father.
Ramlogan said he (Kishoan) was going to take his son with him and his boss to purchase a car in Arima, but he had a change of heart.
“Thank God the child did not go. Who know what would ah happen to him too,” she said between tears.
The child told her that his father hugged and kissed him and told him he would see him later that day.
“Yes, he coming back. But, how, he coming back now in a box. He will not be coming back as Kishoan,” she said.
According to a police report, around 11.50 am Tuesday, Ramlogan went with his colleague to buy a car that was advertised for sale on Facebook at Righteous Lane Extension, Pinto Road.
When they got there, however, they were ambushed by a group of men who opened fire on them and robbed them of $15,000.
With gunshot wounds to his elbow and stomach, the colleague drove to the police station.
Ramlogan was pronounced dead on arrival to the hospital, while his colleague is warded in a serious condition.
While she would hear of murders over the news, Carlawatie said she never expected it to reach her doorstep.
Lamenting the crime situation in the country, she said, “It real terrible, everybody trying to work for a dollar and when they making a dollar, look what going on with them.
“They trying their best, they sacrificing for their child or whatever, they have remain with them, look what they do to he nah.
“They not supposed to kill he like that. Kishoan did not deserve to dead yet, he have this child to see about.”
The mother-of-three is hoping that the police find and arrest the perpetrators who murdered her youngest child. She said he was kind, loving, helpful and loved his son with all his heart.
“I think the police have to do more. But what more, I don’t know. I don’t know what could be done right now. It’s too much for the past few days, just too much deaths. And honestly, there is so much the police can do and where they can be.”
She said Kishoan was working towards opening his own garage.
