Angoy’s Avenue farmer dies after bike crash on Ebini Trail

A farmer who left home to go for a drive on Tuesday at Ebini Trail, Upper Berbice River, died following an accident.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) yesterday stated that 24-year-old Kemo Phillips died while en route to Ebini Landing. It was reported that the farmer of Timmers Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was involved in an accident.

His mother told police that they were at their farm located at Ebini Trail, and the young man left there at about 19:30 hrs on Monday. She said he told her he was going for a drive and left on his motorcycle.

At about 6:30 am on Tuesday, she received a message that Phillips had been involved in an accident. She was told that her son had been lying on the trail with his motorcycle next to him. She then went with other persons to render assistance to him. He died while being rushed to Ebini Landing.

His body was taken to the Kwakwani Hospital Complex where it was officially pronounced dead. The report also noted that Phillips had bruises on the left side of his lower back.

Investigations into the young man’s death are ongoing.
