A Canefield man was yesterday remanded to prison after he was charged with the attempted murder of his brother, a police constable.

Ralph Rodrigues, 22, of Lot 1 West Canefield, East Canje, Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Reliance Magis-trate’s Court, where he was charged with attempting to murder Raul Rodrigues, 29, a Police Constable of Central Police Station.

Ralph was not required to plead to the charge and bail was denied.

He was remanded to prison until November 10.

Stabroek News previously reported that the brothers were involved in a heated argument on Monday around 7 pm at their home, located in Canefield Settlement, East Canje Berbice, which quickly led to a scuffle between the two.

Ralph then allegedly armed himself with a knife and used it to stab his brother several times to his abdomen and once to his right leg. The wounded constable was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient in the Intensive Care Unit.
