An accident on the Kwakwani Trail in Region 10 involving a motorcycle and a minibus early Sunday morning, has left two persons hospitalised.

Glenton Lyte of Hururu Mission Berbice River is in an unconscious state at the Georgetown Public Hospital after suffering a fractured skull while Corwin Hartman, a passenger on the minibus, is currently at the Linden Hospital Complex.

Police investigations have revealed that the minibus BXX 4445 was proceeding north at a moderate speed on Kwakwani Trail. As the driver, Jason Swarving, 27, of Landerville, Aroaima, Berbice was approaching Bamboo Road, he signalled he was heading right on the road by turning on his indicator.

As the driver was negotiating the turn he felt an impact at the back of the minibus and brought it to a halt.

“He then stopped and exited his vehicle, and went to the rear and saw extensive damages to his vehicle. A few feet away a motorcycle was on the road surface with extensive damages to the front. The rider was laying on the road surface…” police reported.

In addition, Hartman, who was a passenger in the back seat of the minibus also received injuries about his body.

The driver of the minibus picked up Lyte in an unconscious state, and rushed with him along with the injured passenger to the Kwakwani Hospital Complex. They were treated and transferred to the Linden Hospital Complex where the passenger was admitted in a stable condition. However, the motorcyclist was further transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital in an unconscious condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
