This was disclosed by an official release to its membership. According to the correspondence which was signed by General Secretary, Ian Alves, the congress scheduled for May 29th 2021, did not occur owing to the prevailing pandemic and the non-receipt of approval from the National Covid-19 Task Force.

“We are pleased to provide you with the updated official notice of the 2021 Ordinary Congress of the Guyana Football Federation Inc., to be held on December 18, 2021 at 10:00 hours via Video Conference,” stated the release.

“Due to the ongoing global pandemic and the necessary protocols, the fact that it is not an electoral congress, and the federation’s continued concern for the health and well-being of its members, the Executive Committee approved that the 2021 Ordinary Congress of the GFF be held via video conference. Details regarding accessing the Congress will be provided separately,” the release added.

The document also stated that the formal convocation of the forum will be made in writing at least a week before its actual date but no later than December 10th..

The agenda items and all required documentation as stipulated by Article 28.3 of the GFF Constitution, will be made available.

“Every member is eligible to vote at the congress, provided it has not forfeited its right to vote due to a suspension or failure to respect GFF’s statutory provisions (cf. arts. 13, 14 and 15 of the GFF Constitution). Delegates must belong to the member that they represent and be appointed or elected by the appropriate body of the member (cf. art. 22.3 of the GFF constitution).”

The correspondence further said that every member can be represented by a maximum of two delegates, with each member possessing one vote apiece.

“Members shall formally notify the federation’s secretariat in writing, the name of its congress delegates (and two alternates), including the one with the right to vote, by no later than December 10, 2021”, the release specified.

The release further noted that any proposal by a member that is to be submitted to the congress, must be submitted to the General Secretary in writing, adding that a brief explanation and supporting documentation must accompany the proposal before the deadline of November 26th.
