Three men charged with rape

A former soldier is among three men who were on Monday separately charged with rape.

Ex-Guyana Defence Force (GDF) member, Randell Williams, 30 years old of Paradise Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD); Erwin Marcus, 40, of Beehive, ECD; and Glenroy McKenzie, 48, a security guard of ECD appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on Monday and were each released on bail.

The men were arraigned before Magistrate Fabayo Azore who read separate charges of rape of a child under 16 years to them. The charges were read indictably. The police said that Williams was arrested on October 2 and the conditions for his $150,000 bail were that he reports to the Cove and John Police Station and lodges his passport with the court. The matter was adjourned until December 2.

McKenzie who was arrested on the allegation on February 27, was also placed on $150,000 bail and he is required to report to the Vigilance Police Station every Saturday. The matter was adjourned until December 02, 2021. Marcus was placed on $500,000 bail and the matter was adjourned until January 11, 2022.
