Following her instrumental role in West Indies women beating hosts Pakistan women 3-0, Hayley Matthews believed it was assessing the conditions early that proved to be key.

After the final match she stated, “I always try my best to do as much as I possibly can for the team. We as players have been working hard for a good while now and I’m just really happy that I could come down here and execute well.”

“The wicket was really good down here constantly so it was really good that I could both bowl and bat well on it. Yes, happy I got in some performances but even more happy for a team win. I think looking at it what was really important for us was assessing the conditions down here. I think I was able to understand that really well and just do what I needed to do,” she added.

Matthews copped the player of the series award after scoring 132 runs including a best of 57 in three innings as well as taking seven wickets with her off-spin.

The 23-year-old Bajan admitted that she was “probably disappointed in not scoring more runs I just think for me I was probably disappointed I didn’t get a couple more runs with the bat but at the same time I was really grateful to have a huge all-round performance and most important thing, contribute to team wins.”
