Ahilia & Bish Panday Foundation awards university scholarships to three students

The recently established Ahilia & Bish Panday Foundation has agreed to sponsor three students to pursue their studies at the University of Guyana (UG).

In a press release issued on Friday, P&P Insurance Brokers, which set up the Foundation with the aim of giving back, identified the beneficiaries as Trishana Roopan, Adrien Roopan and Felicia Monderson.

In brief remarks at a meeting with the students, Bish Panday told them that his company places a lot of emphasis on qualified staffing and he knows the importance of a good education. The release said he acknowledged that the three successful students have demonstrated the capacity for hard work and excellence and he has no doubt that they will carry the same mindset through university. Mrs Panday also congratulated the students and wished them all success.

According to the release, Trishana Roopan is enrolled in the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme at UG’s Turkeyen Campus. She attended Berbice High School, where she obtained passes in 11 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) subjects after which she went on to complete the Associate of Science Biology program-me, which she passed with a distinction.

Her brother, Adrian Roopan, also attended the Berbice High as well as the J.C. Chandisingh  Secondary and he secured 9 subjects at CSEC. He will now be pursuing the Associate of Science Biology programme at UG’s Tain Campus, in Berbice.

Monderson, the release said, attended Bishops’ High School and earned 13 subjects at CSEC and 5 subjects at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE). She will be furthering her studies in Biology at UG and hopes to become a veterinarian. 

The students expressed their thanks and promised to always do their best, the release noted.
