Fairfield pedestrian dies after accident

A 51-year-old pedestrian died at a city hospital on Sunday, one day after he was stuck down by a motor car along the Fairfield, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD) Public Road.

The dead man has been identified as Deosaran Moonilall.

Police last night confirmed that Moonilall was struck down around 17.59 hrs on Saturday by motorcar, PTT 9481.

According to a police statement, investigations revealed that Moonilall was crossing the public road from north to south whilst the motorcar was proceeding west along the southern side of the said road.

As a result of the collision, Moonilall fell on the roadway and he sustained injuries to his head and about his body.

He was picked up by the driver and taken to the Mahaicony Public Hospital and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he succumbed on Sunday.

A police investigation is ongoing.
