A Stanleytown man died last evening after he crashed his motorcycle along Strand, New Amsterdam.

Police identified the deceased as Rodrigues Anthon, 28, of Number 48 Stanleytown.

The man was riding his CBR motorcycle, CH 247, along Asylum Street, New Amsterdam, around 18:00 hrs at a fast rate when the accident occurred.

He reportedly lost control of the bike, which careened into a drain and then crashed into a concrete culvert, the impact of which launched him into a nearby building. He was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, received major injuries to his head and other parts of his body.

The police have since launched an investigation.
