The police are probing the death of a vagrant at the Westminster Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara.

In a statement yesterday, the police said that Visham Dial, 61, died sometime between 9.30 pm on Friday and 5 pm on Saturday.

The police said that he would normally sleep under the house of Jaipaul Ramsamooj, a fruits vendor.

On Friday night, Dial and a female of the neighbourhood were seen arguing. His body was found on Saturday afternoon with  a mark of violence on his forehead and bloodstains on his face and head.

Police from the Parfait Harmonie station visited and the body was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. It is now awaiting a post-mortem examination.
