A Grove Squatting Area man is in a critical condition following an altercation at his residence on New Year’s Day.
Totaram Jaimangal, 30, of Third Street, Grove Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara was chopped by a friend, 39, after a dispute arose while they were imbibing.
According to the police, Jaimangal took away a cutlass that the suspect had and attempted to chop him. He however missed and the suspect took the cutlass away and chopped Jaimangal in the left side of his rib cage.
The attacker then fled. Jaimangal was rushed to the Diamond Hospital and later transferred to the GPHC where he is listed to be in a critical condition.
