Salesman and mechanic charged with receiving stolen car

A salesman and a mechanic were on Tuesday denied bail after being charged with receiving a stolen car.

Leon Lewis, 30, a salesman of Lot 235 Lamaha Springs, South Ruim-veldt, Georgetown, and Ravin Singh, 24, a mechanic of Lot 2 Public Road, Montrose, East Coast Demerara (ECD), appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court, where Magistrate Alisha George read the charge to them.

They were charged with the offence of receiving a stolen property, being a Toyota Fielder Wagon, which was the property of Tyrone Pires, 44, a taxi driver of Beterverwagting, ECD. They both entered not guilty pleas but bail was refused and they were remanded until February 21.

According to the police, Lewis and Singh were arrested on Monday by police ranks from the Special Organized Crime Unit (SOCU) and charged with the offence.
