Contrasting events

Dear Editor,

Two contrasting events being  recognised on Sunday, February 6. On the one hand Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II is observing her jubilee reign, while the world mourns the passing of the iconic and legendary Nightingale of Song, Lata Mangeshkar of India.  Amidst all of this the sad end of the five-year-old boy trapped in a well for several days in Morocco, reminds us of the fragility of life.

We felicitate and celebrate Her Majesty and spare a mourning thought for the Nightingale and the five year old, who has gone too soon.

Yours faithfully,
Shamshun Mohamed
