After five years of competing in the junior Soca and Calypso monarch competitions, Lindener Jada Harry is ready to take on the big leagues. The artiste’s latest single “Voodoo Whine” has secured a spot in the final of this year’s Soca Monarch Competition.

The song was composed by Jada and second place finisher in last year’s Soca Monarch Competition, fellow Lindener, Diana Chapman. Since the release of the song, fans from Guyana and Trinidad have been raving about it.

“I feel excited and great to go out there and do what I love doing,” a thrilled Jada said. The singer/songwriter expressed her gratitude also for the opportunity to compete with seasoned Soca singers for a shot at the monarchy.

A 21-year-old mother of a four-year-old son, Jada has been fervently taking on motherhood and music together managing to secure places in the previous junior monarch competitions. In the Junior Calypso Monarch 2019 contest, she finished in third place. That same year Jada was awarded fourth place in the Junior Soca Monarch competition. In last year’s Junior Soca Monarch contest, she finished in fourth place for the second consecutive year.

Though a newcomer in the senior competition, Jada said she was confident that she will be a frontrunner and with her contagious new single out, she warned her competitors not to underestimate her.

Following the release of the song, Jada and Diana coordinated the ‘Voodoo Whine Challenge’. Persons participating in this challenge are required to produce a video of them doing the Voodoo Whine dance. The winner who will be announced on Valentine’s Day, will receive a cash prize of US$150.
