Attempts to discredit VICE NEWS

Dear Editor,

It seems that successive governments in Guyana, especially the PPP government, ministers and persons who believe the PPP can do no wrong, find themselves involved in yet another controversy. Why is it that this always happens to the PPP? Could it be that all the allegations are made up or fabricated?  Usually, where there is smoke, there is fire. It appears that the quickest way to become wealthy in Guyana is to become a politician or the middleman for high-ranking politicians. Besides the fact there is, and always has been a lot of smoke, there appears to be an attempt to discredit and cast doubt on the subjectivity and accuracy of the allegations revealed by the VICE NEWS journalist. Discredit the source of the information/allegation, cast doubt by asserting biasness, for example, it was reported by some PPP sympathizers and the Chinese Embassy that Vice News is part of an anti-China plan. I am surprised we haven’t yet heard another classic tactic, which is to blame the political opposition. Those involved in corruption ought to be wary of the information VICE NEWS has in its possession. The line and layered approach to the questions asked by the Vice News’ journalist suggest that there is more damning evidence.

Sincerely,

C. Singh
