LONDON, CMC – St Kitts and Nevis international Lois Maynard scored a late winner after coming on as a substitute at the start of the second half as 10-man Solihull Moors defeated Wealdstone 2-1 to move up to fourth place in England’s fifth-tier National League on Tuesday night.
The hosts took the lead in the sixth minute when Andrew Dallas diverted Harry Boyes’ shot past goalkeeper George Wickens.
But lowly Wealdstone equalized in the 22nd minute when Jerome Okimo steered in a corner, and their hopes of taking at least a point rose when Mark Ellis was shown a red card in the 61st minute.
But it was the hosts who overcame their numerical disadvantage in the 81st minute when 33-year-old central midfielder Maynard, on loan from leaders Stockport County, applied the finishing touch to notch his second goal of the campaign.
Montserrat international Rohan Ince was sent off in the same division, but 10-man Woking managed to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw at Dagenham & Redbridge thanks to in-form Inih Effiong’s late equalizer, which took his tally to 11 for the season.
Woking, now without a win in six games, were not helped by the 16th-minute dismissal of 29-year-old defensive midfielder Ince for a poor challenge on Josh Hare before Paul McCallum opened the scoring for the hosts on the stroke of half-time.
Aldershot’s miserable home record continued after they were held to a goalless draw by National League basement boys Dover Athletic whose new 25-year-old signing, Bermudian striker Djair Parfitt-Williams, came on as a 69th-minute substitute.
The Shots have failed to win in the league at the Recreation Ground since November but substitute Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong, 24, an attacking midfielder who also plays for Grenada’s Spice Boyz, came close to earning them all three points only to see his late effort cleared off the line.
