As I write, several sections of Enmore are under water; flat homes are in foot-deep water. Enmore has two pumps: One normally manned by Enmore Estate and the other by D&I. Neither is working and, from investigations, both have been down for over a week. If this is efficiency and good management by D&I, I would shudder to see what is mis-management. I am not one to knock any administration from a political perspective; I am not good at politicking and will never be. And I cannot be silent when crass incompetence puts the welfare of residents, wherever, at risk. At the moment several areas are under water – because of gross incompetence by some!
Often, one is tempted to the conclusion that because some functionaries had campaigned for a political administration, they are entitled to a free pass for shoddy performance on the job. It is such incompetence in the field that result in negating the good intention of any administration. This is an open call to His Excellency, President Ali, to do an urgent audit of Heads of Organisations and roll the heads of those who are found to be inept but who hide under the political cloak and suck up. I also call on NDC heads to go open where functionaries “mama-guy” and shift blame to others. Let us call a spade a spade. Anything less is being hypocritical.
