CANU intercept over 100lbs of ganja in Berbice bust

The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Wednesday intercepted a vehicle ferrying over 100 pounds of cannabis.

In a brief statement CANU said the three persons were in the vehicle when CANU officers stopped the vehicle and carried out a search at Number 63 Village, Corentyne Berbice.

The suspected cannabis was found, positively identified and weighed. It amounted to 53.6 kilogrammes (equivalent to 118 pounds) with a street value of $16,080,000.

Investigations are ongoing.
