GPL employees to get 6% salary increase

On Thursday, the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) and the workers’ representative body reached an agreement that will see over 700 employees getting a six percent increase.

The six percent is an increase from a four percent offer GPL had placed on the table weeks ago, a Ministry of Labour release said.

The agreement states, that GPL agrees to pay and NAACIE accepts a six percent all-inclusive increase in wages and salaries as full and final settlement of all claims for increases in remuneration for the year 2021.

The release said that all-inclusive comprises of the automatic annual, in scale increase, across the board increase, and annual performance incentive for 2021.

The agreement was signed between the management of GPL, led by Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Renford Homer; Bal Parsaud, Divisional Director for Human Resources and representatives of the union – the National Association of Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Employees (NAACIE) at the Ministry of Labour.
