Village Rams effectively ended Mahdia Movement’s Family’s three-year win-streak after defeating them by 52 runs Sunday at Durban Park.

The Village Rams piled on an imposing 257 for five from their allotted 20 overs while Mahdia  managed 205 before being bowled out in 17.3 overs.

Daniel Seegobin shepherded Rams with a 49-ball 80 which was decorated with nine sixes and two fours before he was bowled by Ricardo Adams (1-59).

Seegobin added 87 for the third wicket with Omesh Daniram who hammered four sixes and four fours on his way to 46 from just 20 balls. Seegobin also shared a second-wicket partnership of 81 with Kemol Savory who made 24 from 19 balls.

Extras accounted for 37 while cameos from Mark Jeffers (31), Cliff Joseph (24 not out) and Ricardo David (15). Raydon Austin picked up 2-39 for Mahdia.

In reply, Adams returned to top score with 75 from 38 balls, belting four sixes and five fours while adding 76 for the third wicket with Bepal Bandoo (20).

Ryan Adams was the only other player to make a significant contribution with a blistering 22-ball 55, laced with six sixes and two fours. Andrew Gibson made 17 while extras accounted for 23. Earshad Ali was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4-30. Anthony Vyphius supported with 2-75.

Meanwhile, INet Communications handed over a set of cricket gear to Madhia as part of their sponsorship agreement.
