Skeldon stays unbeaten with third win

Skeldon Estate secured three wins from as many matches when the Berbice Cricket Board/Vitality Inc., T20 Cup for teams in Upper Corentyne continued recently.

Skeldon Estate defeated hosts No. 68 by seven wickets scoring 149-3 in reply to the hosts 145-6.

P. Karran with 33 and T. Persaud with 32 led the way for the hosts supported by J. Anthony with 27.

S. Rasheed took 2-18 and Sarwan Chaitnarine bagged 2-32.

In their reply, Skeldon Estate’s Junior Blair scored 72 while N. DeSousa scored 25 and A. Seeraj 22.

They also defeated Dark End by nine wickets at their home ground, bowling out the nine-member side for 22 in 10.3 overs with Mahendra Chaitnarine grabbing 3-5 and N. Seenarine, 2-3. Skeldon Estate then raced to 25 for one in 4.5 overs with A. Hussain finishing on 16 not out.

Skeldon Estate’s third win came against No. 43 at the Number 68 Ground.

Skeldon Estate were bowled out for 108 in 15 overs with Q. Burnett hitting three fours and three sixes in the top score of 40. Devin Baldeo, B. Deen and P. Lensankar took two wickets each.

No 43 were dismissed for 92 in 14 overs with B. Deen making 32 and A. Dangram (16). Mahendra Chaitnarine grabbed 3-17 and A. Hussain 2-15.

At No. 70 Spartans Ground, No. 72 Cut and Load secured a 36-run victory over No. 71. No 72 Cut and Load posted 153 for seven with Daveanand Chatterpaul top scoring with 44. Vijay Persaud made 34 and Samuel Senrod 20. N. Ali bagged 3-21 and Rishi Persaud 3-29.

In reply, No. 71 were bowled out for 117 with N. Vincent and N. Mohammed making 26 and 24 runs respectively. Persaud returned to make 24 but it was not enough as Abhindra Paressar and Michael Singh took three wickets each.

At the No 73 Young Warriors Ground, Rama Krishna Foundation defeated Young Blood by 32 runs. Rama Krishna Foundation managed 84 all out from 20 overs with Prakash Singh (21), Andre Tahall (18) and Khemraj Dhap (16) piloting the batting. V. Singh took 4-10, T. Doobay 3-7 and K. Dup 3-18. Young Blood were bundled out for 52 in 17 overs with S. Khan taking 3-20. A. Hun and I Ally took two wickets each.

The competition is an ongoing effort to develop cricket in Berbice and is part of a series of tournaments within each sub-association with the main objective of targeting the grassroots level. 28 teams started the tournament and the final is set to be played next month.
