Siblings in custody over wounding of Westminster carpenter

Two siblings of a Westminster carpenter are in custody following an accusation that they wounded him.

Police in Regional Division #3 today said they are investigating the wounding yesterday of  carpenter Kemo Archer of Westminster, Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.

The incident occurred between 7.20 pm and 8.40 pm yesterday.

In a statement, the police said that enquiries disclosed that the complainant and the suspects reside together. Police were told that the complainant went home from work intoxicated and got into a heated argument with his sister, 21,  and he allegedly hit her in the head with a plate. She allegedly then stabbed the complainant in his left hand with a broken piece of the said plate while the brother, 18, allegedly dealt him several cuffs about his body before allegedly using a scissors to stab him in his shoulder.

The police say that the 18-year-old then allegedly pulled out a Rambo knife from a haversack and dealt the complainant three stabs – one to his left forearm and the others to his abdomen causing him to fall to the ground.

The police were summoned and the suspects arrested. They were both escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital to seek medical attention along with the injured man. They  were all seen and examined by a doctor on duty, treated and sent away in stable condition.

The two suspects were taken to the Parfaite Harmonie Police Station where they were placed into custody. Investigations are continuing.
