Linden customs officer charged with attempted murder of wife

A Linden customs officer, who allegedly stabbed his wife several times during an argument over the weekend was on Tuesday charged with attempted murder and remanded to prison.

Michael Hercules of Lot 2964 Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune via Zoom at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison. The matter was adjourned to May 3rd.

Police had confirmed the incident which took place around 13.30 hrs last Saturday at Bucktown, Linden during which Latoya Hercules, 42,  was stabbed in her chest, right foot and fingers.

Michael Hercules escaped after committing the crime and was subsequently arrested by the police.

The victim was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where she was treated and admitted. Her condition is listed as stable.

According to a police report, the couple was in a motorcar driven by the suspect when an argument ensued.

The police said Michael Hercules drove and stopped the car at Bucktown. “…As they both exited, he went into the car trunk, took out a kitchen knife and ordered the victim back into the car where the argument continued,” the report explained.

During the argument, the police said Michael Hercules allegedly stabbed Latoya Hercules several times before he fled.

Latoya Hercules contacted her relatives who travelled to the area and rescued her before contacting the police.
