Rajendra Chandrika and Amir Khan kicked off the East Coast Cricket Board/Navin-Hanso first-division 50-overs-a-side tournament with impactful centuries recently.

In Zone A, Khan struck an even century to propel Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club to 245 for seven at Enterprise Community Center and set up an 88-run win over Enterprise Busta Sports Club. Khan was supported by Chaitram Balgobin who made 81. Dave Persaud took 3-33.

In reply, Enterprise managed 167 before being dismissed in 38.1 overs with Chandrika left stranded on 101. Richard Chatura took 3-29 while Khan returned to take 3-43.

Amir Khan struck an even 100 and took three wickets.

The other Zone A match saw hosts, Strathavon beating Mahaica Sports Club by seven wickets. Mahaica were routed for 77 in 24.1 overs with Darshan Persaud (30) and Andy Ali (26) being the principal contributors.

Prakash Chowti bagged 4-4 in 3.1 overs and was supported by Gobinram Hemraj with 4-20.

Strathavon raced to their target in 14.2 overs for the loss of three wickets with Chowti hammering an unbeaten 20.

Persaud returned to take all three wickets.

Over in Zone B, Ogle Cricket Club defeated LBI by five wickets. LBI won the toss and batted and were bowled out for 112 in 42 overs. Moonsammy Veerasammy top scored with 22. D. Ranbalall took 4-10 while B. Singh and D. Junior took two wickets each.

In the chase, A. Jitlall struck 45 to see Ogle reach 113 for five in 20.5 overs. Romeo Deonarain took 3-12 while Y. Bishun took 2-17.

The tournament continues tomorrow with Strathavon taking on Enterprise at Strathavon, Enmore hosting Fairfield, Mahaica heading over to take on Lusignan, Buxton facing Golden Grove at Buxton, LBI batting Better Hope and Ogle taking on Industry Stars at Enterprise.
