Twenty-five-year-old Winston Bourne of Lot 204 Wismar Housing Scheme, Wismar, Linden, appeared at the Linden Magistrates’ Court via Zoom before Magistrate Wanda Fortune to answer to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Ecstasy found in Bourne’s possession

Bourne was granted bail in the sum of $35,000 and will make his next court appearance on May 3.

According to the police report, on April 2, at about 11:00 hrs, ranks in Region Ten were on mobile patrol in Sunflower Street, Wismar, Linden when they saw two males conversing on a bridge.

When the men saw the police, Bourne, who was sitting on a black electric scooter, attempted to throw away a transparent plastic bag which was in his hand. He also tried to drop his scooter and run, while the other unidentified male dropped a haversack that he was wearing and escaped.

However, the police managed to apprehend Bourne and take possession of the plastic bag which upon examination was found to contain several orange and grey tablets with the markings of a skull and the word ‘fanta’ on them, which were suspected to be ecstasy.

Bourne was then informed of the offence committed and cautioned. The man however responded, “What y’all can do for me? I buy these ecstasy to turn over from that man y’all see run away. Things tight with me, what y’all can do for me?”

He was subsequently arrested and escorted to the MacKenzie Police Station where the suspected ecstasy was weighed in his presence and amounted to 30 grams.
