Police discover 24 kg ganja at Vigilance house

The Police says that an intelligence-led operation resulted in the discovery of 24 kilograms of marijuana in a home at Vigilance South, East Coast Demerara.

Acting on information, a party of Policemen from Regional Division 4 ‘C’ visited the area yesterday where a search was carried out on an incomplete flat concrete building. The Police said that they discovered the 5 bulky transparent plastic bags hidden in a barrel and 26 parcels wrapped in brown plastic in a suitcase and bucket.

 A further search also led to the discovery of several government-issued documents bearing the name of a male resident of Vigilance South.

The illegal drugs was taken to the Cove and John Police Station, where they were weighed and amounted to 24 kilograms. The parcels were also dusted for fingerprints.

No arrest has yet been made in relation to the discovery.

Investigations are ongoing.
