A Region Seven building will now be used again as a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) facility.

Minister of Labour,  Joseph Hamilton; Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT),  Richard Maughn; Prime Ministerial Representative at the Office of the Prime Minister,  Ewrin Ward, among other officials from the Labour Ministry on Friday, May 13, 2022, inspected the building at Mongrippa Hill, Bartica, (Cuyuni/Mazaruni).

A release from the Ministry of Labour said that the building was constructed some time ago by the region’s council and was utilized by the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) between 2010 and 2019 for skills training in collaboration with several stakeholders for citizens of the region.

Some of the courses offered were Catering, Cake Decoration, Information Technology and Welding.

However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the agency ceased the training at the facility since the building was operated as a COVID-19 Testing Site.

To promote the Ministry of Labour mandate across every administrative region, Hamilton and team received the building from the region’s RDC to be used once again, as a TVET facility, the release said.

Officers of the Labour Ministry will also be stationed at the facility to offer Occupational Safety and Health , Labour, Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency and Co-operatives services to the citizens of Region Seven.
