The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) will host their Andrew Lewis National Novices Championships, on June 24 to 26, at the National Gymnasium on Homestretch Avenue in Georgetown.

It will see the return of the tournament for the first time since 2019.

According to the GBA, the fistic sport’s newbies from across the country will be engaged in battle from 18:00hrs nightly, as the Association seeks to unearth new talent ahead of several regional tournaments.

Technical Director, Terrence Poole, pointed out that medical examinations and weigh-ins will be held on Thursday, June 23, at 16:00hrs at the National Gymnasium.

Several of the country’s premier amateur boxers had their origin in the ring via the Andrew Lewis Novices, which is held in the honour of the former World Champion, who died on May 4, 2015, in an accident.
