Children who died in Barnwell fire laid to rest

Police Regional Division 4 ‘B’ Commander, Woman Superintendent Denise Griffith yesterday paid tribute to eight-year-old Timothy Kippins, six-year-old Triston Kippins, and one-year-old Zhalia Flue, at the funeral service which was held in the Mocha Community Centre Ground.

The three children died during the wee hours of Thursday May 26th, 2022 after their home at Barnwell, East Bank Demerara went up in flames.

According to a statement from the police, Commander Griffith said: “It is indeed a sad day for the community of Mocha, the mother Tracey Flue and all the relatives and friends of these beautiful souls. I wish to take this opportunity on behalf of the Commissioner of Police and his Admin team to express heartfelt condolences. The night of the incident I received a phone call and as a mother it (left) me so traumatized that I couldn’t sleep that night. As the Commander, I wish to encourage family, relatives and members of this close-knit community to continue to embrace the grieving mother, and you will be receiving the support from myself and the ranks of Regional (4B) Division.”
