Joel Browne’s Joey2Kool Produc-tions recently launched the ‘Small Days Riddim Medley’, featuring eight Guyanese – Mariah, Adrian Dutchin, Kwasi Ace, Nekeita, Jumo Primo, Pahjo, Big Red, and Carlvin Burnett – at the Cigars and Cognac Eco Bar and Lounge.

At the launch, Carlvin spoke of sending a demo to Joey2Kool Produc-tions, which was immediately liked; they got down to work the very day. “It’s a privilege sharing this instru-mental with a whole lot of talented people,” Carlvin enthused.

The singer said that he entered the entertainment industry following the GT&T Jingle and Song Competition and it thrills him to be working alongside people he has known since then. “What we need in Guyana is just the support because the music is up there, and trust me, we can rival the world,” Carlvin said.

The rhythm was sent to the featured singers and saw them contributing their own songs. Michelle ‘Big Red’ King said as soon as she heard the rhythm she knew it was contagious. Her son, singer Lil Red, wrote the lyrics of the song she sang.

Meanwhile, Jumo said, “Being a part of the project has been an amazing journey for me.” He too called for Guyanese support.

Proprietor of Cigars and Cognac James Bond, who dubbed his business as the number one spot for support to local talent and entertainment, said that when he learnt of the project he couldn’t shy away. He lightly added that he also came up with one of the verses to one of the featured songs.

He encouraged the public to support local talent pointing out that music is a passion local performers pursue and the journey is plagued with challenges. He also said that local artistes should be valued more for the risk they take in giving all of themselves to entertain everyone.

Those in attendance were treated to the catchy samples of each Small Days Riddim song, which they welcomed with bobbing heads. Days later, six of the eight artistes on the rhythm performed live in concert at Cigars and Cognac.
