Buxton carpenter electrocuted at work

A carpenter is now dead after he was electrocuted while trying to erect a set of wooden stairs.

The dead man has been identified as 30-year-old Conrad Spencer of Lot 10 Company Road, Buxton, East Coast Demerara.

The incident took place at about 09:30hrs on Sunday at Lot 6 Joseph Street, Buxton, when the man was erecting the stairs.

Police in a statement said that enquiries disclosed that Spencer was in the process of cutting a piece of wood with an electric saw, when he came in contact with a live wire and was subsequently electrocuted.

It was said that at the time, the man was barefoot.

According to the report, he was observed lying motionless, facing upwards next to the work-bench with the electric saw beside side him.

On Spencer’s right arm, there were what appeared to be burn marks around the area of his elbow.

Police visited the scene on the day of the incident at about 09:50hrs, as well as the EMT from the Melanie Fire Station and pronounced the man dead.

His body was escorted to the Jerrick’s Funeral Home where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
