Mahaica rice farmer dies after car ends up in trench

The police today said 25-year-old rice farmer Jeuwel Ramlall of Mahaica died after an accident at 11.30 pm yesterday.

In a statement today, the police said that Ramlall was consuming alcohol at a shop in Mahaica, in the company of a friend.  He then went into his vehicle and drove off at a fast rate. The police say that Ramlall lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a nearby trench. He was taken out of the vehicle in an unconscious condition and conveyed to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead.
