As a first time voter these are my questions for Aubrey Norton

Dear Editor,

I will be voting for the first time in 2025, and am currently undecided on how I may vote. To assist in making my decision, please permit me to ask some questions to our Opposition Leader, Aubrey Norton.

1. Please state why the people of Guyana should elect you as their next president?

2.    Do you approve of U.S politicians who have never visited Guyana but criticize our government, especially since the Chairman of U.S foreign affairs actually visited Guyana and did not similarly criticize us?

3,   How would you try to restructure the current Exxon oil deal, or would you accept it in its current form?

4.  Do you support and have confidence in the police? Why do you think that there were hardly any protests against police killings in the last Coalition government? An Indian man was shot and killed last month by the police in Ruimveldt, why do you think there were no protests and demonstrations in his killing?

5.  Do you think your ancestors would approve of you celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s birthday – the descendant of their oppressors, and ignore birthday celebrations of local stalwarts from your party like Amna Ally?

6.  Did you misspeak, or do you still maintain that President Ali was bullying you when he publicly extended his hand to greet you?

7.  Do you believe that you have the full and unconditional support of the entire PNC party, and the coalition?

8.  You have done extensive outreach where you have visited many communities recently.  Have you visited any Indian villages or PPP “strongholds”?

9.   Do you have any proven evidence that the PPP cheated at the last election?  And do you know of any country in the world, where the opposing political party managed to rig the general Presidential election?

10.  Guyana may be unique in that it is the only country in the world, where all the superpowers (Russia, China, USA, UK, India, Canada etc.,) seem to favour one political party. Assuming this to be true, how do you go about reversing this and avoid a similar debacle like 2020? Thank you.

Sincerely,
Jhagroo Persaud
