Passport Office says experiencing delays

The Central Immigration and Passport Office confirmed yesterday that it is currently experiencing delays in the issuance of passports over a shipment of materials.

It said that normalcy in its operations is expected to resume in August when the shipment arrives here.

“The COVID-19 pandemic and other recent world events have caused the disruption of countless supply chains.  The Guyana Police Force’s Central Immigration and Passport Office has been affected by this disruption in the supply chain of material,” the police in a press release yesterday said.

The release noted that while the delay is “inevitable”, the Central Immigration and Passport Office “remains unwavering in its commitment to work assiduously to ensure that things are back to normal in the shortest possible time.”

The Central Immigration and Passport Office apologised for any inconvenience the delay may have caused.
