Den Amstel and No. 1 All-Stars recorded victories when the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Senior Men’s League continued Monday evening at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora.

Den Amstel defeated Crane 4-2.

Tyreek Grant handed Den Amstel the lead in the 17th minute, slotting the ball into the left corner from inside the six-yard box after an initial attempt was pushed into his path by the goalkeeper.

However, Alonzo Bowman equalized in the 26th minute from the penalty mark following a handball infraction, slamming his right-footed effort into the lower right corner.

Bowman then pushed Crane into the lead in the 45th minute, controlling a right side cross, before uncorking a right-footed volley from the top of the 18-yard box which settled into the lower left corner.

The lead proved to be short lived as Malcom Miggins equalized two minutes later, slotting into the centre of the net after receiving a left side pass.

Kelon Nelson made his presence felt three minutes later to give Den Amstel a 3-2 advantage, rifling a powerful shot from outside the centre of the box into the left corner.

The victory then was completed in the 78th minute, as Anthony Benn scored from the penalty spot, blasting his effort into the lower left corner.

Meanwhile, No. 1 All-Stars edged Wales 3-2. Shaquille Baptiste handed No. 1 All-Stars the fortuitous lead in the 18th minute, as a tame strike from outside the area slipped through the grasp of the goalkeeper and settled into the back of the net.

It proved to be the only conversion of the first period. Upon the start of the second half, Bram Fredericks made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute as he scored from the penalty mark into the left corner.

The scoreline raced to 3-0 as Fredericks grabbed his second of the night in the 70th minute, fighting off the challenge of the final defender before racing into the left of the box and finishing into the lower right corner during a one on one situation.

Wales eventually pulled one back in the 71st minute, as Lexroy Mansfield slotted unchallenged into the lower left corner, after receiving a right side pass unchallenged inside the centre of the penalty area.

Mark Mohan further reduced the deficit to 3-2 in the 85th minute, converting from the penalty mark into the roof of the left corner. Nevertheless, Wales was unable to secure the equaliser in the remaining minutes, as No. 1 All-Stars held on for the vital win.
