Georgetown and East Coast Under19 cricket teams battled to a draw earlier this week in the Demerara Cricket Board Inter-Association two-day competition at the La Bonne Intention Facility.

Georgetown won the toss and opted to bat first but were routed for 76 in 67.4 overs. East Coast were then bundled out for 38 in just 20.1 overs. Georgetown then set East Coast a target of 177 to win after declaring on 139 for nine in 52.4 overs. East Coast were on 87 for four when the game ended.

East Coast captain, Chandrapaul Ramraj starred with the ball, picking up 5-11 with his left-arm spin. He was supported by Hemraj Harripersaud with 2-6.

Dave Mohabir top scored for Georgetown in their first innings with 23 from 110 balls. Ryan Latif (16) and the Hohenkirk brothers, Jeremiah (15) and Nehemiah (10) were the only batsmen to reach double figures.

Mohabir returned to snatch six wickets for just three runs while Riyad Latif took 3-5 to skittle East Coast. Vickash Wilkinson and Romel Datterdeen were the only double-figure scorers with 13 and 12 respectively.

In Georgetown’s second innings, Shamar Yearwood top scored with 46 from 107 balls. He struck two sixes and three fours while sharing in a 68-run, third-wicket partnership with Rivaldo Phillips who made 44 from 89 balls. Ramraj was again the principal bowler with 4-22 and Harripersaud grabbed 2-47.

Wilkinson bounced back with 45 from 128 balls for East Coast before he was bowled by Myhiem Khan (2-12).
