Vehicular traffic can now once again traverse the Lethem to Georgetown trail after emergency works were conducted at a breached section in Region Nine.

Yesterday morning, the section near Surama collapsed leaving traffic on either side of the road backed-up.

In a statement, the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW), said that a contractor was mobilised to repair the breached section of the road, which is routinely maintained by the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission.

“The contractor’s engineer on the ground says repair works have commenced and traffic should be flowing by this afternoon,” the ministry also disclosed.
