Petra Organization Co-Director Troy Mendonca, has stated that preparation of the playing surface is being undertaken at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown, to ensure that the facility is ready for the semi-final matches in the Milo Secondary School Football Championship on Sunday.

This was confirmed during a brief interview yesterday with Stabroek Sport. According to the experienced administrator, the preparatory phase is progressing well, though they are hopeful that the sunshine remains for the duration of the weekend to allow the fixtures to be staged, following several days of deferment due to heavy rainfall.

“The preparation is going smoothly to date, and we are hopeful that the sun continues to shine. Some areas are still soft on the ground but we are rolling those later tonight.”

Defending champion Christianburg/Wismar will oppose Dolphin Secondary in the first semi-final encounter at 15:00hrs, while Golden Grove will come up against North Ruimveldt at 17:00hrs in the second fixture.

The third place finisher will receive $100,000, a trophy, and bronze medals while the fourth place side will walk away with $75,000 and a trophy.

The most disciplined team will also be awarded a trophy. On the individual side, the most valuable player (MVP) will receive a pair of cleats and a trophy, while the highest goal scorer will receive an identical prize package. The best goalkeeper will receive a pair of goaltending gloves and a trophy.
