Family, friends and supporters of Quindon Bacchus, the youth who was killed by police last month, on Friday staged a protest outside of the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) as they continued to press for more ranks to be charged.

Approximately 10 persons, some bearing placards, gathered in front of the DPP’s office for the protest.

Bacchus’ father, Julius Bacchus, told Stabroek News that ‘’the police story is not adding up. According to the video and the statement that they give first and last, it’s not adding up.”

Quindon Bacchus, a father of one, was shot and killed by police on June 10 at Haslington New Scheme, East Coast Demerara. On July 5, following an investigation by the Police Complaints Authority, Lance Corporal Kristoff De Nobrega, who is accused of the fatal shooting of Bacchus, was charged with his murder, while Lance Corporal Thurston Simon and Sergeant Dameion Mc Lennon were charged with attempting to obstruct the course of justice.

However, Bacchus’ father stated that the family would like all the other police officers involved in the shooting to be charged, while urging that the case be reopened and that a thorough investigation be done.
