‘Renzo’, ‘Cheeks’ remanded on armed robbery charge

Two men facing the charge of armed robbery were yesterday remanded after they appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Nineteen-year-old Lorenzo Haywood called ‘Renzo’, of Lot 27 Third Street, Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara, and Tyrese Maricer called ‘Cheeks’, 20, of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, both pleaded not guilty to the charge against them.

According to the charge, on July 30, 2022 at Albert Street, Georgetown, while in the company of others and being armed with an offensive weapon, that is to say a knife, they robbed Mariska Schattevo of one gold chain valued $120,000, and one Samsung Galaxy A3 cellular phone worth $38,000.

The two were remanded to prison and were ordered to make their second court appearance on August 17.
