Cops uncover ganja during Swan raid

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Thursday seized seized just over five pounds of cannabis at Swan Village along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

In a statement, the GPF said on Friday that ranks who are attached to the Timehri Police Station were conducting raids in several villages along the highway, including Swan.

During the operation in the village, a search was conducted amongst some bushes in the vicinity of Marudi Creek, where the ranks unearthed three black plastic bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis.

The suspected cannabis was taken to the Timehri Police Station, where it was weighed. It amounted to 2.453 kilogrammes, which is equivalent to 5.4 pounds.

The police said that no one was arrested and that their investigation into the discovery is ongoing.
