Hinterland Intelligence Committee revived by Top Cop

On August 5th, Commissioner of Police (ag) Clifton Hicken revived the Hinterland Intelligence Committee (HIC) during a meeting in his Conference Room, Police Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown.

A release from the police said that the meeting was primarily aimed at promoting a conducive atmosphere for the sharing of information among key stakeholders with responsibilities for Guyana’s Hinterland Regions, which can be processed into intelligence that will guide policy decisions.

The release said that the meeting was attended by Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn; Deputy Commissioner Operations (ag),  R. Budhram; Deputy Commissioner Law Enforcement (ag),  W. Blanhum; Head Special Branch,  E. Watts; Regional Commander No. 1, Senior Superintendent H. Sawh; Regional Commander No. 7, Senior Superintendent D. Moore; Regional Commander No. 8, Senior Superintendent M. Kingston; Regional Commander No. 9, Senior Superintendent Rose; Regional Commander No. 10, Senior Superintendent H. Winter;  Sonya Reece, Representative from the Guyana Forestry Commission; Amanda Edwards, Representative from the Ministry of Natural Resources;  Vishantie Balgobin, Representative from the Guyana Energy Agency; Troy King, Representative from the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority;  Mahesh Mahipaul, Representative from the National Intelligence and Security Agency; Rickford Sancho, Representative from CANU; and  Charles Da Silva, Representative from the Guyana Gold and Diamond Association.

The HIC is scheduled to meet statutorily at 5 pm on the last Thursday every month.
