Another round of ExxonMobil U14 football set for today

The ExxonMobil Girls and Boys U14 Football Championship will resume today at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue with another round of group fixtures.

In the Boys Division, Patentia battles Cummings Lodge, and Dolphin opposes Leonora at 11:40hrs, while Westminster takes aim at Plaisance Bosco Boys, and Lodge Secondary tackles North Ruimveldt at 12:30hrs.

At 13:20hrs, Freeburg matches skills with West Ruimveldt, and Charlestown battles Tucville. In the final match, Ann’s Grove locks horns with St. Winifred’s at 14:10hrs.

Meanwhile, in the Girls section, East Ruimveldt opposes Dolphin Secondary, and Leonora Secondary battles New Campbellville at 10:00hrs, while Charlestown engages Ann’s Grove, and Leonora tackles Dolphin Secondary at 10:50hrs. In the final match, West Ruimveldt faces off against Charlestown at 15:50hrs.

The event will be a round-robin affair in both the boys and girl’s categories.

The boy’s division will feature 24 schools, with teams divided into six groups of four while the eight-team Girl’s section will feature two groups of four.

Upon the conclusion of the group stage, 16 teams will advance to the knockout round from the boy’s pool. The teams will then play for positions 1-16. Similarly, the female section will contest for positions 1-8.

The top four finishers from each division will walk away with $300,000, $150,000, $75,000, and $40,000 respectively for a project within the respective institutions. The total sponsorship of the tournament comes in at $6,000,000.
