Bulletin issued for Linden man over killing of Venezuelan

Days after he allegedly fatally shot a Venezuelan national, the police yesterday issued a wanted bulletin for Linden resident, Linden Fordyce.

Police said anyone with information on the whereabouts of 26-year-old Fordyce also called ‘Blacka’ of One Mile, Wismar, Linden can contact them on telephone numbers 225-6940, 2258196, 227-1140, 911 or the nearest police station. Rosmari Revolledo Torres was killed at Mowasie Landing, Region 8. Torres, also called “Mary”, of Caracas, Venezuela and a shop owner at Mowasie Landing was shot on Friday while hiding from her friend’s boyfriend who opened fire on them after he was confronted for disorderly behaviour.

According to the police, Torres, her sister and three others were drinking at a shop at the landing. At the time, police said the suspect, who operates a mining operation at Mowasi Backdam, Konawaruk and a small shop, was involved in a heated argument with his girlfriend. Aware of the situation, Torres and a man from their group spoke to the suspect about his behaviour and told him to calm down. This did not sit well with the suspect and he instructed Torres and her friend not to intervene in his business.

Torres, however, did not back down and an argument ensued between her and the suspect. At the time, police said, Torres was armed with a cutlass and began firing chops at the suspect but missed. The suspect retaliated by pelting bricks at Torres and others. According to the police report, the group ran away and hid in some bushes approximately 250 metres away from the landing. But the suspect, now armed with a gun, discharged three shots. As a result, Torres and another woman who was also hiding sustained injuries.

Eyewitnesses told the police that after Torres sustained the gunshot wound, she fell on her back and became motionless. The injured woman managed to alert the man who was with them and they summoned the police. The suspect however managed to flee the area. Upon arrival at the scene, police said it was processed for forensics and Torres’ body was discovered with two small circular wounds on her left side and her left thigh.  The injured woman was admitted at the Mahdia Hospital for further medical treatment.
