Demerara Sugar Terminal vacancies

Dear Editor,

Why does GuySuCo’s Human Resources Department insist on exposing its limitations?  Could it confirm to respondents to the advertisement of some eight vacancies existing at the Demerara Sugar Terminal (located at Ruimveldt on the East Bank of the Demerara River), which of the inciting photos in the ‘We Are Hiring Notice’ relate to the latter’s operation, particularly since they would not be alerted to the fact that it has been managed at the level of the Head Office at ‘La Bonne Intention’ – historically recorded and known to generations to be legally LBI (East Coast Demerara).

Neither the employer, nor prospective employees, would necessarily know how to pronounce the advertised French version. In any case there could be at least some hesitancy about the fact that such a wide range of tradesmen and operators has vacated the premises at the same time – possibly indicative of the existing work environment?

Yours faithfully,

E. B. John
