President arrives in Trinidad for state visit

President Irfaan Ali and First Lady Arya Ali were yesterday received by Christine Kangaloo, Acting President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) at the Piarco International Airport.

President Ali is on a State Visit to the Twin Island Republic, a statement from the Office of the President said.

Upon his arrival, the Guyanese Head of State was welcomed with a 21-gun salute, after which he was invited to inspect the guard of honour.

Ali is expected to participate in a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago,  Dr Keith Rowley today, while the visiting team will participate in the Agri-Investment Forum that will officially start tomorrow.

The Guyanese delegation also includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd; the Minister of Agricul-ture,  Zulfikar Mustapha; the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond and other government officials.
