Guyana’s squash women maintain dominance by dismantling B’dos 5-0

Guyana maintained its dominance in the women’s division of the XXVII Senior Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Team Championships, dismantling Barbados 5-0 yesterday in Jamaica.

Taylor Fernandes defeated Muffin Stollmeyer 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 in the opening match, before Ashley DeGroot made light work of Eboni Atherley 11-4, 11-6, 11-2 to double their advantage. The win was then completed as singles champion Ashley Khalil crushed Jodi Smith-Padmore 11-3, 11-2, 11-0.

Meanwhile, Akeila Wiltshire, and Victoria Arjoon secured their wins via walkover. The women’s team will return to action against the Cayman Islands today at 6:00pm.

The men’s team will take centre stage today against Barbados at 11:00am, and Trinidad and Tobago at 6:00pm. The veteran’s team will also be in action today against Trinidad and Tobago at 2:00pm.
