The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has once again joined forces with corporate entity, the National Milling Company (NAMILCO), to launch the secondary schools coaching programme yesterday, which will target entities in the county of Berbice.The launch was staged at the NAMILCO’s Agricola, East Bank Demerara, headquarters, and attended by BCB president, Hilbert Foster; NAMILCO Managing Director, Bert Sukhai; Operations Manager, Ralf Hemsing; and Financial Controller, Fitzroy McLeod.Approximately 23 secondary institutions are slated to feature in the coaching initiative, which is led by Winston Smith, with six emanating from Region Five, and the remainder originating from Region Six. Foster stated that the primary objective is to identify and develop youth players, adding that the association is currently working on commencing their primary school programme, as well as erecting training nets at every institution in the region.Meanwhile, Sukhai stated that the company is one again proud to support the association, explaining, “[We are] proud to be a part of activity with the Berbice Cricket Board. We are seeing results on the international level and we are proud to be a sponsor.”Similarly, McLeod stated that the investment has translated into players emerging on the national scene at various levels, which is evident of the quality programmes being instituted at the association level, adding that the company will continue to support the entity in the future.
